Vice-president of Guatemala inaugurates UN.GIFT training

UN.GIFT and UNODC launched a training seminar on human trafficking for national authorities in Guatemala. The vice-president of the Republic of Guatemala, Dr. Rafael Espada, and officials from six governmental institutions dealing with trafficking in persons attended the opening ceremony.

The Vice-president expressed his admiration for the work that UNODC and UN.GIFT have undertaken into putting human trafficking in the global agenda. The Government of Guatemala has recently created a Secretariat specializing in human trafficking, sexual violence and exploitation.

Mr. Felipe de la Torre, h uman trafficking expert from UNODC introduced the training material that included the First Aid Kit for use by Law Enforcement , launched in 2010 by UNODC under UN.GIFT's Expert Group Initiatives .
